97. 3/4 TAG THE LINE Starting formation - Parallel Lines of Four, Inverted
Line(s), Two Faced Line(s), 3 & 1 Line(s). Each dancer turns individually to face
the center of the line and walks forward passing right shoulders with oncoming
dancers. Lead dancers pass by two dancers and end facing out. Trailing dancers
pass by one dancer and step to a right-hand Ocean Wave in the center of the set.
Ends in a 3/4 tag Formation. If the call is done from any single line of four, it ends
with a mini-wave between two out-facing dancers.

Teaching Hints:
As noted in the definition, this call can be used with facing lines, back to back
lines, Two Faced Lines, and 3X1 Lines. In each case the ending formation will
result in a 3/4 Tag formation. That is a wave between a couple facing out. If the
call is used from a Tidal Two Faced Line, the ending will be two Mini-Waves
in the center with two dancers facing out, one behind the other. The caller
should use caution when calling 3/4 tag from a Tidal Two Faced Line.

If the caller has not already explained the various formations, such as 1/4 Tag,
1/2 Tag and Full Tag, now is a prime opportunity. In fact it would seem that it
would be necessary.
The caller should place the dancers in one of the formations named above.
He/she should then tell the dancers that as in any Tag movement, they will
turn individually to face the center of their own line. Have them all to take one
step forward. This will produce a wave of four with two dancers on either end
even if they are apart. (A 1/4 Tag formation) Note to them that none had passed
another dancer yet. Have them to take another step forward. Note to them that
the lead dancer has now passed one dancer and is now beside another dancer.
The trailing dancer has not passed a dancer but is beside another dancer. They are
now in a 1/2 Tag formation. Have all dancers take another step forward. Now the lead
dancer has passed two dancers and is standing alone. The trailing dancer has passed
one and is now beside another dancer. Have the center dancers to place their hands
in an Ocean Wave stance. Many callers will have the outside couples slide or adjust
together to form couples. This completes the 3/4 Tag. The caller can explain to
the dancers that if they took another step forward, it would complete the FULL Tag.
Many dancers will forget to turn toward the center of their line and start the Tag by walking
forward. Seldom, but once in awhile the trailing dancer will somehow get in front of the
lead dancer. The caller will watch for both. If the caller uses 3X1 lines, care should be
taken especially for the two dancers in the mini-wave. The dancer facing different than the
other three will try to take a step forward or pass the other dancers with the wrong shoulder.
